Listed above are the Troop's upcoming meetings and activities for the months of September and October.
We also hope that everyone received the Troop calendar for the 2021 - 2022 year; the calendar also lists the dates for some District meetings and events. We may adjust the calendar, and if so, notifications will be sent out promptly, and updates will be posted in the newsletter.
COURT OF HONOR ON 9/30
We are looking forward to seeing all Troop 306 families at our fall Court of Honor on Thursday, 9/30. During this special event, we will celebrate the accomplishments of our Scouts over the past six months, and the new youth leadership will be introduced. Please remember that Scouts should wear a full Class A uniform for this event – a full Class A uniform includes a Scout shirt, Scout pants or shorts, neckerchief, merit badge sash, and appropriate footwear (boots or tennis shoes).
MARYLAND RENASSIANCE FESTIVAL
We soon will be seeking volunteers for the Maryland Renaissance Festival on Sunday, October 24. This is a fun event with lots of interesting people to see! During the festival, we work with other volunteers and sale sodas throughout the day. The Troop receives a sizable donation for the service provided. A total of 21 volunteers are needed, so we expect and need participation from all families, to the extent possible. Scouts must be 14 years & up to volunteer, but adults from families with younger Scouts should still participate. A sign-up sheet will be circulated soon!
CATONSVILLE FOOD/OTHER ESSENTIALS COLLECTION
Catonsville Presbyterian Church, the Knights of Columbus, and other churches in the Catonsville area are again collecting non-perishable food items and other essentials (cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, paper goods, and personal hygiene items) to support the food pantries/distribution centers at Grace AME and CEA. There will be a drive-through collection at CPC from 4 - 6 pm on Friday, October 8, and Friday, November 12. Items can also be dropped off at the Knights of Columbus from 9:30 am - 12 pm on Saturday, October 9, and Saturday, November 13. A list with the most requested items will be distributed soon.
POPCORN SALE
Very few families expressed interest in the popcorn sale, but since the sale is very easy, we are moving forward with it. Cynthia will provide information to one family who did express interest. If additional families want to participate, that's fine. Just reach out to Cynthia for more information. The sale runs through the end of the year.
WE NEED YOU!
Troop 306 has officially entered its 109th year, which is pretty awesome! This accomplishment is greatly due to the support from CPC, the community, and in particular parental involvement, and all of which are necessary for the Troop to continue to thrive. We encourage each family to attend the Troop Committee meeting held on the first Thursday of every month at 7:30 pm -- this is a great way to learn about upcoming plans, see how the Troop is managed, and obtain more information about areas of need. The meetings are currently being held via Zoom.
SCOUTING IS IN HIGH GEAR!!!!! LET'S HAVE A GREAT SCOUT YEAR!!!!
