IMPORTANT UPCOMING FUNDRAISERS

We want to remind all families about two important upcoming fundraisers/community service activities, in which all families are expected to participate.

First, the Troop helps out at the Catonsville Arts & Craft Festival annually, and this year the festival takes place on Sunday, September 11.  We will be assisting with setup, breakdown, cleanup, and also will monitor trash receptacles throughout the day.

This is a great opportunity for boys to earn service hours!  Family participation is encouraged and appreciated.

We will need volunteers for four different shifts (7 - 11 am , 11 am - 3 pm, 3 - 7 pm, and 5 - 7 pm).  Please see the Sign Up Genius link below and take a few moments to sign up for a shift if you have not already done so.

Secondly, the next fundraising opportunity benefitting the entire Troop is the Maryland Renaissance Festival on Sunday, October 23.  This is a fun event with lots of interesting people to see!  On this day, we work with other volunteers and sale sodas at concession stands located throughout the festival.  The Troop receives a sizable donation for the service provided (approximately $11.75 for each participant, plus tips).  A total of 21 volunteers are needed, 7 of which must be adults.  Scouts must be 14 years & up to volunteer, but adults from families with younger Scouts should still participate.

Each volunteer must commit to working the entire shift, which likely will be from 9 am - 8 pm (breaks are allowed).  Last year we struggled to get the required number of volunteers. This year we have about 19 active families in the Troop, so it will be critical that we have at least one participant from each family.  Please mark this date on your calendar, and start considering now who your participant will be.

SUMMER CAMP 2022

Harley King, one of the parents/adult leaders who attended summer camp, graciously provided a link to 326 summer camp photos he uploaded to share with parents and other admirers.  Feel free to click on the link below to view the pictures, and if you have any photos to share, they can be uploaded using the same link.  Please see below.

SEA BASE HIGH ADVENTURE 2023

We appreciate all of the parents who attended Sea Base parent meeting on 7/7.  We hope the information we provided is helpful.  Ms. Cynthia followed up with any families who were unable to attend.

If you're looking for a place for your son to swim, we learned that the Roger Carter Community Center in Ellicott City offers open swim at various times every day.  Admission is just $5.  Please click on the link below for more information:

Please remember that the next swimming assessment will take place in September, and our crews will be determined based upon this assessment.  We will let you know as soon as we have a date.

The next Sea Base payment is $8,000, and is on November 1.  Payments are due by the third Thursday of each month and can be made via PayPal using the following email address: friendsofboyscouttroop306@gmail.com.  Please contact Kristal McCormick at braysmum@gmail.com if you have questions or need more info.

Also, please mark your calendars for the Sea Base Yard Sale fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, October 1, from 7 am - 2 pm at Christian Temple.  For more info, please see the email circulated on 8/4 from Troop306 Fundraising.

WE NEED YOU!!!

We celebrated our 110th anniversary in June and have so many reasons to be thankful and proud!  We are the oldest Troop in Maryland, if not one of the oldest Troops in the U.S., and we've been chartered every year since then with the exception of one year during World War I.  This accomplishment is greatly due to the support from CPC, the community, and in particular parental involvement, and all of which are necessary for the Troop to continue to thrive.

We encourage each family to attend the Troop Committee meeting held on the first Thursday of every month at 7:30 pm-- this is a great way to learn about upcoming plans, see how the Troop is managed, and obtain more information about areas of need.  The meetings are currently being held via Zoom, and an email with the agenda, minutes, and Zoom link are distributed the day of the meeting.

SCOUTING IS IN HIGH GEAR!!!!!  LET'S HAVE A GREAT SCOUT YEAR!!!!
